Drawing Comfort Tip #3 - "MUMS and DADS It"
Children can be incredibly persistent.
"Can I...?"
"What about now?"
"Please?"
"Everyone else can!"
When we're under pressure, it's easy to give an answer just to end the conversation.
Instead, remember:
MUMS it — Make Up your Mind Slowly.
DADS it — Deliberate And Decide Slowly.
Why it works
Taking your time means your decisions are thoughtful rather than reactive.
It also teaches children that persistence won't rush your answer and that decisions deserve careful consideration.
How to use it
When you're being badgered, simply say:
"I'm MUMS-ing it."
or
"I'm DADS-ing it."
Then add: "I'll let you know when I've made my decision."
There's no need to keep discussing it every five minutes.
Give it a try
Choose one request this week that doesn't need an immediate answer.
Allow yourself time to think before responding.
Remember...
Not every question needs an instant answer.
Slowing down often leads to better decisions - for everyone.
