Parent Support Sessions

Parent support logo_edited.jpg

If you're worried about your child, you don't have to work it all out on your own.

For the duration of your child's Drawing Comfort sessions, I'm here to support you too.

During parent support sessions, I'm often told things like...

  • "The only time I get to relax is at bedtime - and then I just lay there worrying about what tomorrow will be like."

  • "I've tried lots of strategies - but I feel like none of them have made a difference."

  • "I try to keep calm - but I just get so frustrated, I end up yelling at her!"

  • "I dread what her teacher is going to tell me has happened at breaktime."

  • "I feel like I'm a referee when he's playing with his sister!"

Claire has provided our family with some pearls of parenting wisdom and has provided us with some great techniques to encourage the best out of our children (and us parents too!)

How It Works

1

You're free to choose how many support sessions you'd like to arrange.

My usual recommendation is to coordinate them with your child's first, sixth, and last therapeutic session.

This gives us the opportunity to create a plan, review progress made, and consider next steps.

You're welcome to invite other adult family members to attend your session.

Your First

Support Session

2

During your session, I'm here to listen to:

What you're concerned about (the things keeping you awake at night)

Strategies you've already tried to help your child and to rate how effective they've been

The changes you'd like to see at home and school

Anything else you feel is important to share

We'll then talk through different strategies and create a straightforward plan together.

Your Follow-up

Support Sessions

3

This is your opportunity to share:

What parts of your plan are working well and parts that need to be tweaked and/or refreshed

What changes you've noticed in your child (the positive and the challenging)

Any questions or feedback you have about your child's therapeutic support

We'll then update your plan.

In-between your parent support sessions, you're more than welcome to email me - I'm here to help!

Your Final

Support Session

4

The format of this session is similar to your previous parent support sessions, however, it's also your time to talk through:

Any questions or concerns you have about the next steps after your child's therapeutic support has come to an end

We'll then update your plan.
