Parent Support Sessions

By working together we can provide your child with the best possible opportunity to improve and strengthen their emotional wellbeing.

During parent support sessions, I'm often told things like...

"I've tried lots of strategies - but I feel like none of them have made a difference."

"I try to keep calm - but I just get so frustrated, I end up yelling at her!"

"The only time I get to relax is at bedtime - and then I just lay there worrying about what tomorrow will be like."

"I feel like I'm a referee when he's playing with his sister!"

"When I pick her up from school, I dread what her teacher is going to tell me has happened at breaktime."

If you're worried about your child, you don't have to work it all out on your own.

For the duration of your child's Drawing Comfort sessions, I'm here to support you too.

My priority is to find the best way forward for each family I support.

How It Works

Planning Your Support Sessions

1

If, after your free consultation, we decide to work together, we'll arrange a start date and book in all twelve sessions for your child in advance.

We'll also book in the dates for your parent support sessions. These are usually via video or phone call, but can also be in person.

You're welcome to choose how often your support sessions are held. My usual recommendation is to have a support session before your child's first, sixth, and last session.

Your First Parent Support Session

2

During your session, I'm here to listen to:

What you're concerned about (the things keeping you awake at night)

Strategies you've already tried to help your child and to rate how effective they've been

Any changes you'd like to see at home and school

Anything else you feel is important to share

We'll then talk through different strategies and create a straightforward plan together.

Follow-up Parent Support Sessions

3

This is your opportunity to share:

What parts of your plan are working well and parts that need to be tweaked and/or refreshed

What changes you've noticed in your child (the positive and the challenging)

Any questions or feedback about your child's therapeutic support

We'll then update your plan.

In-between your parent support sessions, you're more than welcome to email me - I'm here to help!

Your Final Parent Support Session

4

The format of this session is similar to your previous parent support sessions, however, it's also your time to talk through:

Any questions or concerns you have about the next steps after your child's therapeutic support has come to an end

We'll then update your plan.
